Personnel Branding
Posted on July 31st, 2008In today’s world, when people going looking for information about a person – about you – they often start with Google. With this in mind, you have new companies like Brand-Yourself.com that are seeking to help you promote you and your brand on the Internet.
What’s Hot
- The concept – they are promoting a great concept. Help people brand themselves to people who matter: hiring managers, recruiters, colleagues and clients.
What’s Not
- The site/tool copies WordPress extensively. In fact if you look at their blog, blog.brand-yourself.com, you will see their own blog is built on WordPress using the Cutline template.
- While there is a free trial it is very limited
- After the free trial, you are essentially paying for an otherwise free WordPress blog.
- There is not that much assistance/guidance on branding yourself that goes beyond the basic WordPress tutorial – in fact there are many more tutorials and resources available for WordPress.
As you can tell from this blog – I think that personal branding is well worth it, but I think you can do much better with tools like WordPress, which is how this site is built, than brand-yourself.com.

Hi David,
Pete Kistler here, from Brand-Yourself.com. Thanks for checking out and reviewing
I thought I’d follow up on your comments:
We are in the earliest stage of launching the system – in fact, we haven’t even started officially marketing yet! While we do have the basic website builder aspect complete, we have yet to release a slew of really cool features that are in the pipeline. These features will make up the core of the Brand-Yourself experience: first, identifying and defining your brand, then executing a guided plan to strengthen your personal brand across the web. For example, one of the features will track, manage and score all the “bread-crumbs” of your online presence, from your blog comments to forum posts to book reviews to wiki entries to social networks to social bookmarks to directories… to other items that make up your entire web presence.
It’s so exciting to be helping people achieve career success by combining principles of both personal branding and online reputation management. And while you’re absolutely right – as of right now, our system has no brand-building tools (only the ability to build your own website) – expect to see exciting new brand-building features coming soon!
Best,
- Pete Kistler

Oooo! This is a point mentioned. I like when everything in place while it is understandable to mere mortals.
